This Cookie Policy explains how VacayPlot uses cookies and similar technologies (such as browser local storage) when you use our website and web application.

1. What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files placed on your device by a website. Similar technologies, like browser local storage and IndexedDB, store data directly in your browser. Together these let a site remember you between visits — for example, keeping you signed in.

2. Technologies We Use

• Authentication (essential). Google Firebase Authentication stores your sign-in session in your browser (using IndexedDB/local storage) so you stay logged in to your VacayPlot account. Without this, authenticated features cannot work.
• Analytics (PostHog). PostHog sets cookies and local-storage entries (typically prefixed with ph_) to recognize returning visitors, measure feature usage such as sign-ups and itinerary generation, and help us improve the Service. PostHog only runs after you accept cookies via our consent banner.
• Advertising analytics (Meta Pixel). The Meta (Facebook) Pixel sets cookies (such as _fbp) to measure the effectiveness of our advertising — for example, recognizing when a visitor arrives from one of our ads and recording page views and sign-up events. Meta may associate this data with your Facebook or Instagram account under Meta's own policies. The Meta Pixel only loads after you accept cookies via our consent banner, and revoking consent stops further tracking.
• Advertising and traffic analytics (Google Analytics). Google Analytics (gtag.js) sets cookies (such as _ga and _ga_*) to distinguish visitors, measure page views and sessions, and help us understand where our traffic comes from. Google Analytics only loads after you accept cookies via our consent banner, and revoking consent disables further measurement.
• Application preferences. We use local storage for small pieces of app state, such as remembering that a newly created account should be counted once in our sign-up analytics.

3. Third-Party Cookies

When you sign in with Google, Google may set its own cookies as part of the sign-in flow. In addition, when you accept analytics and advertising cookies, Meta (Meta Pixel) and Google (Google Analytics) set their own cookies as described above. These third-party cookies are governed by Meta's and Google's own privacy and cookie policies.

4. Your Consent Choices

Analytics and advertising technologies — PostHog, Meta Pixel, and Google Analytics — do not load or collect any data until you accept them through the cookie consent banner. If you decline, only essential technologies (such as authentication storage) are used. You can withdraw consent at any time; doing so stops further tracking by these providers.

5. Managing Cookies

You can control or delete cookies and site data through your browser settings, and most browsers let you block cookies entirely. Note that blocking or clearing essential storage will sign you out and may prevent you from using authenticated features of VacayPlot.
